Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 2, 2026
Jam is built to work without knowing anything about you. This page explains, plainly, what the app touches and what it doesn't.
The short version
- No account or sign-up is required to use Jam.
- We don't run analytics, crash reporting, or tracking SDKs of any kind.
- Your library, settings, and preferences are stored only on your device.
- We don't operate a server that stores your personal data.
Local files
Audio files you import (FLAC, MP3, WAV, AIFF, M4A) stay on your device. Jam never uploads your library anywhere — playback happens entirely offline, on-device.
WiFi import
Jam can start a small local server so you can upload files from a browser on the same WiFi network. It only runs while that screen is open, and it's reachable only by devices on your local network — nothing is sent outside it.
Podcasts
When you subscribe to a podcast by RSS feed URL, Jam fetches that feed directly from the address you provide — no intermediary server is involved.
When you search for podcasts inside the app, your search query is sent to the Podcast Index API to return matching shows. This is a third-party service; no other personal data accompanies that request. You can review Podcast Index's own privacy practices at podcastindex.org.
Internet radio
Station listings and streams are fetched from Radio Browser, a free, open, community-run directory. Playing a station streams audio directly from that station's own server; no personal data is sent beyond what's needed to look up and play the stream.
Lyrics
When you look up lyrics for a track, Jam sends the track title and artist name to LRCLIB, a free lyrics lookup service, to find a match. No other personal data accompanies that request.
Settings and preferences
Playback settings and similar preferences are saved locally on your device using standard platform storage (iOS UserDefaults). They are never synced to a server we operate.
Children's privacy
Jam is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes — for example, if a future feature introduces a new third-party service — we'll update this page and revise the date above.
